I’m Ali Ansari. My journey with music began in my teens, inspired by evenings spent with my sister and father during power outages. We’d sit for hours on the balcony of our flat, singing old Bollywood classics. Those are some of my fondest childhood memories.
Back then, I was considered the least talented in the family when it came to music. My vocals were far from impressive, but I had an unshakable passion for singing. Even though my voice wasn’t “there yet,” I’d sing all day long.
As I entered my 20s and started life in a Chartered Accountancy firm, music stayed with me. During exam prep days in the library, my friends and I would take tea breaks to sing songs—Kishore, Rafi, even a little Elvis Presley. When I finally could afford it, I bought my first guitar and hired a tutor. Soon I was playing simple chords, and my colleagues at ABN AMRO invited me to form a band.
It felt like a dream. We wrote songs and composed music together. But life got in the way. A promotion and a lucrative offer in Singapore meant I had to put my creative ambitions on hold. For years, music stayed in the background—always there, but never at the center.
After 20 years of working in finance and technology, I finally found the courage to quit my job and give music my full attention.
The first song I wrote was Bari Bari Baatain. It reflected my observations from years in the corporate world: lots of words, little action; everyone chasing money but few following their hearts. The beat was catchy, and when I shared it with family and friends, their encouragement lit a fire in me.
Around that time, I met Sami Amiri, an incredibly talented producer, through my cousin. Sami helped me record and refine my first song Adhoori Zindagaani, and its release gave me the confidence to keep going.
Fast forward to today: I’ve completed my first album, Bari Bari Baatain. It’s an experimental project that reflects my journey through life—songs about passion, heartbreak, and love (because, let’s face it, that’s the genre everyone insists sells!). It even includes three tracks in Sindhi, inspired by my mother’s poetry.
Along the way, I was fortunate to work with Immu, the legendary fusion band keyboard player and producer. With his guidance, I re-composed my songs to a professional level. I now collaborate with incredible musicians like Rizwan Hussaini (keys), Eraj Kamal (guitars), and Shahid Munir (who also leads his own band, Sparkk). Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of production quality.
Music has been my constant companion, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with the world.
I hope these songs resonate with you, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this labor of love.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
